Funding & Volunteering So Far
The Coalition has been supported so far by over 1,500 hours of volunteer work and, since February 2025, a $60,000 seed grant by the Survival and Flourishing Fund (SFF).
Funding
Our seed funder, the Survival and Flourishing Fund (SFF), is the second-largest donor in the AI Safety and AI Governance field, donating about $40 million annually to dozens of NGOs.
The SFF is led and funded by Jaan Tallinn. Tallinn is the founder of Kazaa and Skype, an investor in OpenAI and Anthropic, and a co-founder of the Future of Life Institute, one of the most prominent NGOs in the AI safety governance space. In a recent interview, Tallinn suggested that we pursue AI in a bold treaty, akin to the 1946 Baruch Plan for nuclear technologies (as other experts have). SFF has also provided valuable guidance through some of its key advisors and members of the Speculation Grantors committee.
Volunteering
Since convening the Coalition in July 2024 and continuing through February 2025, we operated entirely on a volunteer basis. We are very proud of the astounding progress that we were able to make, nonetheless.
With only one full-time volunteer staff member, we still managed to catalyze over 1,500 hours of volunteer work from our community, expand from six founding NGO partners to ten, and add over 25 exceptional team members and advisors.
We launched the Coalition on December 18, 2025, via an Open Call for a Baruch Plan for AI. This was accompanied by a detailed 90-page Case for a Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI (v. 1), featuring 22 exceptional contributors, and an explanatory video.
Some team members and advisors have contributed at considerable financial and personal costs, demonstrating exceptional dedication, sacrifice and frugality. Here are all those who so far have contributed 20 hours or more to the Coalition:
Rufo Guerreschi, 950 hours, $3000 (partially paid full-time since February 2025)
Felix De Simone, 280 hours, $600
Joep Meindertsma, 130 hours
Wendell Wallach, 80 hours
