Why AI Needs a Global Treaty—
And Why Your Support Matters
You've seen the headlines. AI is advancing faster than anyone predicted. World leaders are scrambling to respond. And the people building these systems openly admit they don't fully understand what they're creating.
This isn't science fiction. It's happening now.
The most powerful AI companies estimate there's a 10-25% chance their technology could pose catastrophic risks to humanity within the next decade. Yet there's no binding international agreement to ensure these systems remain safe and under human control.
We've been here before. In 1946, a few key advisors led a pragmatic US President to propose the Baruch Plan—an ambitious treaty to prevent nuclear weapons from spreading and to ensure atomic energy would benefit all of humanity. That plan failed, and we've lived under the shadow of nuclear weapons ever since.
We have a second chance with AI.
What We're Doing
The Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI brings together experts, former officials, and concerned citizens to advocate for a global AI treaty—one that ensures:
Human oversight of the most powerful AI systems
International cooperation so no single country or company controls this technology
Democratic accountability in decisions that affect everyone
We're working directly with policymakers, tech leaders, and thought leaders to make this vision a reality, and focusing in particular on key potential influencers of Trump's AI policy.
Why We Need You
We're a small team doing big work. While well-funded lobbying groups push for minimal regulation, we're making the case that humanity's future shouldn't be left to chance.
Your donation helps us:
Meet with key decision-makers in Washington, Silicon Valley, Mar-a-Lago, the Vatican and beyond
Produce research and strategic communications that cut through the noise
Build a coalition of voices calling for responsible AI governance
Every dollar goes directly to this mission. We operate with extreme efficiency—our monthly costs are a fraction of typical DC policy organizations.
This Is Personal
You don't need to be an AI expert to care about this. You just need to care about:
The world your children and grandchildren will inherit
Whether democratic societies can govern transformative technologies
Ensuring that AI serves humanity—not the other way around
The window for action is narrow. Major decisions are being made right now, in this administration, that will shape AI governance for decades.
Funding Needs: $50K-$400K
Every dollar goes to mission—no fancy offices, no bloated staff. We operate at ~$7.5K/month, a fraction of typical DC policy organizations.
