7/2026 Newsletter: Our Sept. DC Roundtables, Memo 2.8 and our Launch Interview
Until two months ago, the Overton window of US policy in regulating AI's immense safety and power concentration risks was bolted shut by a mad, post-humanist chokehold — held by Peter Thiel and some of his protégés.
Within a few weeks, the window got busted wide open. The window panes are hanging off dangerously, swinging wildly between a sheer variety of options, where the only consensus is that something radical is needed.
The window moved from zero safety rules to an unsustainable, completely arbitrary government micro-regulation based on obscure national security mandates — useless in the face of an unconstrained China.
It moved from zero tax or control to Sanders, Bannon, and 69% of US citizens supporting a sharing up to 50% of the equity of AI firms with citizens — and Amodei, Altman, Vance and Trump endorsing it in principle.
A large void has opened, posing great danger but also a unique opportunity for a critical mass of responsible, humanist US AI policy powerbrokers to foster a new sane, coherent and solid plan for AI.
The new Overton window is now where we have been for 18 months with our Deal of the Century initiative. We deeply profiled and engaged key humanist US AI policy powerbroker that can sway and support Trump in pursuing a proper US-China-led treaty will be crucial. It is in fact just a matter of weeks or months before the self-evident fact that the US alone can do zero about AI gravest safety risks will be fully recognized,
The next few months are a make-it-or-break-it moment, and we have three major announcements and an invitation to help or contribute;
1) The detailed Program and Background of The Deal of the Century Roundtables, to be held in Washington D.C. on September 15-16th, 2026
2) Our first out-of-stealth video podcast interview with John Sherman of the AI Risk Network (on YouTube and on X)
3) Our new 53-page version 2.8 of the Executive Summary of the Strategic Memo of The Deal of the Century, which includes a One-Pager & 3rd Open Letter to President Trump and a 15-page Open Case for Anthropic to Decisively Foster a Proper US-China-led AI Treaty.
